Dear Customer
With regards to the use of products supplied by IKO that contain diisocyanates, new legislation has come into force at European level (REACH).
This REACH restriction of diisocyanates has been adopted due to the health effect they can cause on workers above a certain exposure level. So, it is a specific usage restriction that is targeted.
Limitations will be directed to products containing a greater than 0.1wt% monomeric dissocyanates.
As part of our product offering IKO supplies products which fall into this category, namely.
- IKO Spectrabond Low Foaming Adhesive
- IKOpro High Performance PU Adhesive
- IKOpro Sprayfast (IBA, FMA % BMA)
- Membrane PU Adhesive

As a handler of these products, IKO has the obligation to inform you as a customer about the consequences of these regulations and it is your responsibility to ensure that all users or handlers of these products within your own organisation undertake training.
The legislation states that as of the 24 August 2023 adequate training is required for industrial or professional use of these products. Industrial & professional handlers/users may continue to use the products if they have received training to control dermal and inhalation exposure to reduce the risk of asthma before 24 August 2023.
