With the investment of €34.1 million by the Department of Education, the multi-facility campus is the new home of three schools: Gaelcholáiste Charraig Uí Leighín, Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighín and SONAS Junior Primary School.
The overall campus will now accommodate over 1,000 pupils, with 500 of these in Cork ETB’s new Gaelcholáiste, bringing major new amenities and opportunities for families of the Carrigaline region and its hinterland.
It was essential that the new school buildings should be protected with a high-performance flat roof waterproofing system, to minimise the risk of water ingress whilst having an excellent life expectancy and be covered by a meaningful guarantee.
The Main Contractor MMD Construction secured the contract to build the new campus and awarded the roofing contract to BCL Contracts.
The team at MMD were keen to select the right materials for the job and undertook a process to provide the most cost effective roofing solution.
The IKO Armourplan P Waterproofing System was approved for the roof after stringent technical analysis and due diligence by KOBW architects.
The Kingspan Topfoil insulated panel was a perfect structure to receive an Armourplan single ply pvc membrane waterproofing system.
IKO Armourplan P was mechanically fixed to the insulated foil faced panel using OMG fasteners.
Armourplan PVC metal flashings and Armourplan standing seams in colour coded RAL7015 perfectly complemented and achieved an aesthetically pleasing finish.
Armourplan P is a premium reinforced PVC single ply roofing membrane which forms a sleek skin on many types of roof application.
